SURE!!! You can always expand the size of any fields in a table.
But watch out!!! Before you do anything try to list all the
object references from the application designer. Until then you
can decide whether you still want to expand the field.

I would not recommend doing something like this to any field that
Peoplesoft delivered. I rather try create a new field of my own
and add it to the end of the jobcode_tbl. This way I will only
hit few objects to change.
