: Hi.

: I am new to the Peoplesoft arena. I have a question.

: If you were starting from scratch, what is the most common and/or best platform & database to run the financial apps? I have seen everything from DB2 on a mainframe to Oracle 8 on Solaris. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

: Thanks.

: Jay

I dont know the best, but the most popular would be Oracle8 on Sun/HP/AIX , with the Apache or Weblogic webserver. Oracle's performance is okay if you have a good dba team to keep tuning sql statements. Apache is probably a faster http server than Weblogic, but since most of the HTML code for PS8 is generated in the appserver the http part of the webserver is usually not the slowest link. For the Servlet engine, weblogic has a good reputation, but JServ is fast.
