We have PS 7.5 and are printing checks via a delivered SQR that encodes micr characters. The requirements are the SQR must run locally and the printer needs a special card. Please e-mail me for further information. The program handles logos as well.

Prior to that we were using a modified version of PAY003 with Westcorp Software to print the checks.
