You have to have a seperate Server to Install PS 8X and the whole process of Upgrade takes around 2 to 3 months time.

: We're a 7.5.3 financials (GL, AP, AR, AM) shop running on SQL Server 7 and will be upgrading to 8.X. This will be our first upgrade and I have a basic question for someone with experience with this upgrade. When we implemented 7.5.3 we enjoyed the luxury of installing the system on what would become the production app and db server over the course of the project. On go live day we converted from our legacy system and we were up and live. When we go to 8.X can we install 8.X on the production 7.5.3 equipment, tweak it, test it, stabilize it, get the web tier going, and finally "go live"? Alternatively do we need to purchase new hardware to do our upgrade work and then use the new equipment so that it "becomes" the new prod environment? How did you approach it? Thanks very much for your help.
