NA Payroll- COBOL Pay Cal Process

Postby sandi443 » Sat Nov 14, 2009 4:43 pm

Hello Pros,
I have a req where i have to calculate Employer share and Employee share for employees who are on Unpaid LOA.Since their payrolls are not generated during Leave of absence(LOA) so COBOL pay cal process doesnot calculate paycheck nor deduct's their Benefit deductions. So the client wants to handle this by manually enrolling these employees(LOA) into Benefit Billing Enrollment (BEN_BI_ENR_EFDT) and they want's me to replicate COBOL pay cal and figure out their deduction amount for every PLAN_TYPE and BENEFIT_PLAN they enrolled based on rate tables ,Look up/Calculation table's and show their amount's for every Billing period run once every month.

(I know usually the final amounts could change every paycheck based on his contribution and pay frequency but in this case we are calculating for Per Benefit billing period run once a month and this is where i need to calculate the deductions)

Does anyone know what Particular table's i need to touch or check to get the caculations. Can any one give me an example for one benefit plan (ex: Life ,health or disability)

Any clues or advices are highly appreciated.

Thanks,
SB

Hi Sandi,

All the benefits that includes medical insurance is a cost to the company (employer). My sincere advise is not to touch the PS delivered cobol prg.
Instead you can write a SQR / App engine to retrive all the employees who have enrolled in any of the benefits and are also on the LOA. For this you have to be well versed in all the PS tables., refer to the peoplebooks for any PS tables.

1st Pull all the emp's who are on the LOA and check whether they are enrolled in any of the co's benefit plans. Have the numbers in the hand and BAS_activity table you can get all the required info i.e. the formula for calculating the employers contribution. just pull those too and you are all set.
